- Electrical failures:
Every year we received emergency phone calls about fires losses in our neighborhood and one of the most common causes of how they started are electrical failures. Some things that you could do to minimize a potential electrical failure that leads to a fire are: During the Christmas season turn off your Christmas lights and trees overnight, always make sure to use proper electrical cords and do not overload electrical outlets. Finally, consider hiring an electrician that can inspect the electrical wiring at your home at least once a year.

Therefore, it will be beneficial to follow some of these tips to avoid one: During a storm unplug any major electronics, avoid taking baths and using any of the plumbing in the house, do not use a corded phone or corded electronic devices, and avoid to stay close from doors and windows because they can conduce energy.
- Light Candles
Most of us love to light a candle because they smell good, they are calming, and they look pretty during the season. The problem is that they can start a fire at any time, to avoid this you should: Never leave candles unattended (blow them out before leaving the room or going to sleep), make sure they are in a flat surface and away from any flammable items, kids, and pets.
